Welcome to WIN
Starting in 2019 as a partnership between the Boone County Economic Development Corporation, the O.U.R. Educational Services Cooperative, and the Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce - The Workforce Initiative Network exists to connect education and business in a way that prepares graduating high school students to start their career.
The conversation about college/university is changing across the state as we recognize not all graduating high-school students will go to a college/university - and that's okay. It's not a decision that makes you greater or less than any of your classmates - but it's simply a different path. In our 16 school district region it's estimated that 60% of graduating seniors will go to college... 40% will not. The WIN (Workforce Initiative Network) Program is designed to reach that 40% and put them into a career with a 'living' (not just minimum) wage. |

The Workforce Initiative Network (WIN) and this textbook are here to help you meet the challenges that are in front of you. They’re a combined effort of the many organizations in the greater Boone and surrounding counties area that are interested in you and your future. Please work with your teachers and counselors to map out a career path that will make you successful after high school. Whether you want to get advanced, hands-on training and education to reach a particular goal, or if you’re not even sure where to start, you can learn about the many careers available right here at home, from manufacturing to healthcare, communications, transportation, and many others.
