Ignore the naysayers.People told Magic he was too tall to be a point guard. They also told him he couldn’t go from the court to the boardroom. He was determined to prove them wrong. “All those doubters, I was able to say, ‘No, you’re not going to define who I can become,’” he explains. Whether you’re chasing what you believe you’re capable of or sticking to your guns in your decision-making, ignore those who doubt you.
Mitigate your failures. You won’t win every game or deal, so learn from those moments. This requires self-evaluation. “You can learn from your mistakes and still come out to be successful,” says Magic.

I really loved this part. (Well I loved all of it) There are many successful people who essentially started their drive because someone told them they couldn't do it. It's a great perspective on showing that you can achieve if you work hard and keep pushing. The second part of this is also important. Even when you face failure, you have to realistically look at what happened and then just adjust and try again. Too many people get discouraged by failure and quit. Success is a constant process. You don't just achieve success and then stop working at it. Evaluate, adapt, continue.

Being willing to take what others say to you or about you and using that to push you to do better is a great motivation tool, but it can also act as a double-edged sword. If failures start to pile up, without good discipline you may fall into the mindset of the doubters being right about you and your efforts. There are going to be people who doubt you throughout your entire life, but knowing within yourself that you have a plan and you are going to do what it takes to see that plan through is what will help you be successful.

I am the type of person that believes you cannot have success without failure. We are humans, and we are going to fail, it's part of life, but what you do with those failures is what really matters. I've always been taught that If you want something bad enough, you'll figure out a way to get it, and I live by that.

I enjoyed this part of the video as well. Too many people allow doubters and naysayers get them down on themselves. I love it when someone tells me I can't do something that I want to do. As a matter of fact, I am in college right now because someone told me I couldn't advance in my career. I recognized that all I had to do was to remove the obstacles that were in my way. One of the obstacles just happened to be that I didn't complete my degree. Now I am well on my way. Comments are closed.
