Leverage adversity. Be hyperaware of your mental, physical and emotional awareness. Have strong operating and belief systems.Use it as a springboard to move forward. “Don’t ask, ‘Why is this happening?’” she explains. “Ask, ‘What is this here to teach me?’” Amy says this should serve as your internal GPS, and the information you gather from it can be used to guide you on next steps. The two are in sync. Your operating system is how you navigate your days, meetings, etc. But your belief system is the big picture. You should be able to flip back and forth between these two.

I think this has to be the hardest challenge we face daily. I would venture to say that not many people truly have this figured out. I think this relates back to week 2 when it was mentioned that our culture celebrates overwork. We feel guilty for considering our own beliefs and we tend to only work from our "operating system". I think when we find the jobs we absolutely love doing, it's because we are able to focus on both aspects and they blend nicely.

I'm reminded of Bozoma Saint John and how she hypes herself up. I love the idea of being in control of if I'll have a positive day or not. As far as zooming in and out, personally I tend to work in streaks. High productivity followed by a break to recharge or reflect. That's my version of the operating system that supports my belief system. 10/27/2020 03:31:11 pm
I think this is so important and can be used in our lives daily. It is important to be mindful and understand that no matter what situation we find ourselves in, we can learn something. When we are aware of that, we are able to zoom in and out more easily. Comments are closed.
