The Boone County Leadership Institute -- presented by Kinetic by Windstream -- had their education focus on Tuesday.
“Today’s experience was very encouraging to see how many people in our community are dedicated to work together on a daily basis in order to educate our children at all ages. We are truly blessed as a community to live where we do, not only because of the beautiful scenery, but because of the people.”” - Lucas Collins, BCLI Class XXXIII
Researching the company, handshakes, eye contact, smiles, resume reviews, behavioral interview questions, preparing questions for the interviewers, talking through opportunities to improve, discussing career and life goals... All part of the learning process and getting comfortable in an interview setting.
Here's what some of our volunteers had to say about the students after the session:
"They’re all so bright and I was quite impressed"
"I enjoyed the conversations with all the young leaders!"
"The YLA group is so fun to work with. We're always glad to help"
"I absolutely love getting those opportunities to invest in students and help teach them valuable skills."
"I couldn't believe they were only juniors in high school, they were professional and mature beyond their years."
