Q: What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
A: “Work your business, or your business won’t work”. I heard this bit of advice while attending a training class a few years ago. And, I thought, how true! If you don’t put the time, energy and hard work into growing your business, how will you ever become successful? We even have a graffiti slogan painted on our lobby wall that says—Work Hard, Be Kind, and Amazing things will happen!
Q: When you’re not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
A: I find planting flowers, weeding and working in my yard to be very relaxing and peaceful. I turn off the world for a little while and just focus on making things beautiful. After a day at work, I love turning in to the driveway and seeing a wonderful splash of color.
Q: What do you love most about the Harrison Chamber?
A: Bob Largent and Wilson Marseilles are the best! They’re very accessible and really work to promote local businesses and our area as a whole. They will pop in just to say hi and to ask if there’s anything they can do to help! They actively participate to help us connect with other business partners, contribute ideas for growth, and they truly take an interest in your success.
Q: What’s something about you (a fun fact) not many people know?
A: I love learning new things, and even as a youngster wanted to read all the How-To Books I could find. I’ve listened to motivational tapes (I’m dating myself) from Napoleon Hill, to Earl Nightingale to Zig Zigler. I’ve taken classes on everything from cake decorating to investing. Right now, I’m enjoying Master Class (a gift from my daughter) that hosts professionals at the top of their field teaching classes on their particular specialty. I've always joked that I know a little bit about a lot of things! I don’t think we’re ever too old to stop learning.
